
Panasonic has unveiled two new HD camcorders at this year’s CES to add to its existing high definition camcorder range in the form of its HDC-HS9 and HDC-SD9 1080p HD models which are poised for a stated March release.
Both new models come with 3CCD sensors capable of capturing imagery at 1920 x 1080 resolution in AVCHD format complimented by 5.1 channel surround sound recording courtesy of no less than five separate on-board microphones, feature auto face detection for on the fly automatically adjusted exposure and contrast levels as well as being helpfully bundled with Penny’s Intelligent Shooting Guide which will offer prompts on each of the devices LCDs to help improve the quality of the footage captured.

Naturally both camcorders come with HDMI connectivity and offer still image capture capabilities at 2.1 MP with a handy burst mode offering multiple still captures at 24 frames per second, however, whilst the HDC-SD9 model relies on SD and SDHC memory cards for storage the HDC-HS9, whilst also offering SD/SDHC compatibility, is supplemented by 60GB of on-board, hard disk based storage space.

The Panasonic HDC-SD9 will retail for $800 whilst the Panasonic HDC-HS9, complete with integral HDD, will set you back $1100.
