Dell Crystal Widescreen LCD Monitor

Dell’s startlingly swanky new Crystal 22” Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor has the distinction of having attained the highest design honour in the Best of Innovations category at the Consumer Electronics Show this year and it’s really not hard to see why – boasting cutting edge styling normally reserved for the likes of Apple, their new Crystal widescreen monitor is a seriously desirable piece of kit.

Constructed from tempered glass and polished metal, Dell’s minimalist Crystal 22” monitor boats WXGA 1680 x 1050 HD resolution pared with a lightning fast 2 millisecond response time and a not unimpressive 2000:1 contrast ratio ensuring razor sharp imagery and vivid colour reproduction – in fact Dell claims that, whilst standard LCD monitors manage a mere 72% colour gamut their Crystal monitor offers an impressive 98%, allowing for dramatically improved, faithful colour reproduction across the spectrum.

Add into the equation a built in, wholly unobtrusive 2 mega pixel webcam – complete with microphone - capacitive touch controls (that’s touch sensitive to you and I) and the unit’s integral speaker units and what you have is a monitor that not only looks the business but promises sterling performance and, frankly, we want one.

Say what you will about Dell, but they do a very good job with their monitor design. This one is just stunning. Unfortunately, at $1199 it’s not going to be for everyone. However, I can picture it on the desk of the person who just bought a Sony XEL-1 OLED TV. Early adopters rejoice!
