Having only recently posted about another ‘tough phone’, namely the JCB Sonim XP1 ToughPhone – we now have another contender vying for the mantle of the word’s most durable cell phone in the form of the Samsung Soild.
Samsung’s Solid is certainly not anywhere near as gaudy as JCB’s ToughPhone (unless yellow happens to be your favourite colour), but still offers resistance to both water and dust as well as offering anti-shock resistance but, whist we suspect that Samsung’s Solid is not quite as hard-wearing as JCB’s offering – has this cell phone been thrown into a cement mixer? - Samsung’s Solid GPRS cell phone offers a somewhat broader feature set including a built-in FM radio, an integral VGA camera and it even functions as a torch (seriously).

Pitted against each other apparently one resorted
to biting the other’s ear - which we couldn’t possibly say.
Another particularly nice feature is that the Solid cell phone also comes with a built-in SOS feature whereby, with a simple three consecutive depressions of the volume button, the phone will automatically dispatch an alert message to a user defined recipient warning them that either you’re in grave peril or that you just cannot quite attain the volume level you’re looking for as you listen in to FAB FM.
The Samsung Solid is available from O2 in the UK for fee via contract or at £59.99 per month on prepay.
