Mustek PF-i700 iPod Dock Widescreen Multimedia Digital Photo Frame

Mustek PF-i700 iPod Dock Widescreen Multimedia Digital Photo Frame

With digital photo frames proving evermore popular, Mustek have taken what, in hindsight, is the somewhat logical step of fusing a digital photo frame with an iPod dock to produce the PF-i700 widescreen multimedia digital photo frame which, apart from displaying photos, can also play video clips and music streamed directly from your trusty iPod or from files stored on a broad range of compatible memory cards.

Due to be released sometime in March ’08, the Mustek PF-i700 sports a 480 x 243 resolution widescreen TFT LCD display, stereo speakers and a headphone socket, and, apart from offering a USB connection for direct file transfers for your PC also comes complete with support for SD, xD, MMC and Memory Stick/MS Pro memory card.

Undoubtedly a great idea, our only concern is the both the aspect ratio of the Mustek PF-i700’s screen – which, at 16×9, will result in ‘letterboxing’ of most (4×3 based) imagery – as well as the relatively poor screen resolution. Still, with a price tag of around $130 the PF-i700 is certainly keenly priced, so perhaps it would be a little too harsh to mark the device down too heavily in this respect.
