Admittedly there are no doubt a few of you would will take issue with us making such a bold claim, no doubt on the premise that no printer can ever be truly desirable to be point of being described as ‘sexy’ but, certainly when it comes to Samsung’s new ML-1630 we would beg to differ – this is one seriously beautiful printer boasting a design that undoubtedly, in our opinion at least, proves that, with a little thought, imagination and design flair you can produce a printer that positively oozes sex appeal.
Finished with a high gloss black exterior embedded with ‘sapphire’ LEDs, Samsung’s ML-1630 monochromatic Energy Star compliant laser printer, which comes with touch sensitive controls, is not only sleek (4.78”(H) x 13.07”(W) x 14.76”(D)), its also exceptionally quiet with a maximum loudness of a mere 45 dB – though in offering up to sixteen A4 pages per minute output, at print resolutions of up to 1200 x 600 dpi, its certainly no slouch.

Capable of printing on a range of media (Plain, Thin, Recycled, OHP, Label, Card, Thick, Bond) and with a auto feed tray capacity of 100 sheets, the Samsung ML-1630 is Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server/Vista, Linux OS, Mac OS 10.3-10.4 compatible and yields 2000 pages per cartridge and, at a mere $199 we think it’s a positive steal.
Yes, it may ‘only’ be a monochromatic printer, but when a printer looks this good, frankly we really couldn’t care. And, incidentally, we should add that this would look great alongside LiCie’s Monolithic external HDD featured previously on TFTS - indeed the very thought of these two set side by side makes us go weak at the knees.
