Samsung BD-UP5000 1080p Dual Format HD-DVD & Blue-Ray Dolby Digital Plus Player
For those wishing to site on the fence concerning the HD-DVD versus Blu-Ray HD disc formats this new dual format from Samsung, known as the BD-UP5000 could be just the player you’ve been waiting for in offering not only HD-DVD and Blu-Ray compatibility in a single, compact unit but also complete with Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD audio support.
The Samsung BD-UP5000, which measures in at 12.8(W) x 12.8(D) x 1.1(H) inches, caters for 1080p, 1080i and 720p HD native resolutions, with 1080p offering 14fps playback on both HD DVD and Blu-Ray and offers an impressive range of connectivity consisting of HDMI version 1.3, component Video, S-Video and Composite video outputs as well as offering full support of HD DVD (HDi) and Blu-Ray’s Java interactive features (something that previous dual format players have tended to struggle with).
Already listed on Amazon US as being in stock from January 15 2008, the Samsung BD-UP5000 is presently available to pre-order for around $800.
