Tiwe OLED Wrist Watch Concept

We won’t make any apologies for running with this post concerning the Tiwe OLED Wrist Watch, though the concept has been around a while, as its rare for us to be quite as blown away by a concept as we are in this particular instance and, if by featuring it here on TFTS the designer finds a backer willing to help see the Tiwe into commercial production (you never know) then we’ll probably weep with joy – yes we love this concept that much.

The brainchild of Chinese designer LV Zhongfang (a name truly worthy of any designer), the Tiwe OLED Wrist Watch works by displaying a series of dots across the watch’s face that appear to float around in a wholly random fashion until you either shake the watch or tap the screen – at which point the OLED dots will quickly assemble from their chaotic meanderings to form order hence displaying the current time in an analogue style before timing out and floating away back into chaos again.

And, perhaps it’s this stark juxtapositioning of chaos with the strict, highly regimented order required in order to convey the time that makes this watch so very striking, notwithstanding the fact that, from an aesthetic perspective alone, it’s beautifully modern and minimalist whist also being decidedly showy without passing the threshold of the overtly crass (not an easy thing to achieve in product design).

The Tiwe OLED Wrist Watch is, in our opinion at least, a masterstroke of design that verges on sheer brilliance (we’re never one’s to sit on the fence here at TFTS, as regular readers will know) and we can only hope that Zhongfang finds the backer he and his Tiwe watch undoubtedly deserve.

Needless to say, should the Tiwe ever see it into production our order is positively assured.Incidentally, we have featured a great many wrist watches on TFTS which may also be of interest to you (such as the magnificent OVO), all of which can be see by browsing our Wrist Watches Category.
