Gigabyte M704 Ultra Mobile PC

Successor to U60, Gigabyte’s the first foray into the UMPC market, full details concerning Gigabyte’s new M704 are a little scant at the time of writing but, from what has been ascertained about the device, paired with its beautiful slider design, it seems hardly overly speculative to assume that Gigabyte have a potential winner on their hands as far as their new M704 is concerned.

Boasting a 4 inch, backlit 1024 x 600 resolution WVGA display, the Gigabyte M704, which weighs in at a mere 780 grams and measures in at 190 x 121 x 30 mm, is powered by a VIA C7-M ULV 1.2GHx processor, comes with 768 MB of DDR2 RAM, a choice of 40GB or 60GB 1.8” hard disk drive, a built in webcam as well as 2x USB and wi-fi connectivity and an integral SD/MMC card reader.

The only other notable detail to come to light at this juncture is that the M704’s battery life, regardless of the faster processor, remains on par with that of the U60 at around hours which, whilst not especially bad as far as UMPCs go, is hardly what we would term as being spectacular.

That aside, the Gigabyte M704 is certainly a head turner and we would positively love to get out hands on one though, at the time of writing, the units price remains unknown – though you can rest assured that the moment further details come to light we’ll be offering an extended update here.
