If you ever needed proof that you get what you pay for then this insanely cheap mini PC and laptop USB webcam should serve as a primary example with its wholly uninspiring box-like design that, we assume, is supposed to resemble cameras of old and yet, curiously, fails dramatically – still undeniably distinctive, as far as boxes go.
Notwithstanding the wholly unimaginative design, in fairness this mini webcam, which comes with a rear mounted clip allowing you to attach it to your laptop’s screen, isn’t actually that bad in terms of specification (considering the rock bottom price) in coming with a 1.3 megapixel CMOS sensor offering JPEG captures and 30 fps video at HD busting 640 x 480 VGA resolutions – all from a device that retails for a mere $7.59 (even less if you order in bulk).

Note the carefully realised ‘lived in’ look
(artificial aging comes to webcams)
Perhaps, then, we should apologise for putting this Mini USB WebCam down on the basis of its eminently forgettable aesthetics alone, after all, they say true beauty is more than just skin deep – though, on this occasion, we’d rather be ridiculed for being patently shallow-minded.
