Uniden Unveil Grotesque Disney Branded Mickey Mouse Themed HD LCD TV

Let’s cut to the chase here, this Mickey Mouse themed HDTV from Uniden may well be doing the rounds of a number of tech sites at the moment with the inevitable run down of specifications but why is it that not one of the sites featuring it (that we’ve come across, certainly) have commented on the design which, let’s be brutally honest here, is not only totally uninspiring, its utterly terrible.
Seemingly borne of some grotesque 70’s themed nightmare of aesthetic insensibilities, if we had an award for the ugliest HDTV this would undoubtedly be walking away with not only the star prize but probably a lifetime achievement award – based on that fact that its fair to assume that it’s (hopefully) not going to face any serious competition for some considerable time. It really is that ugly.
And, when one considers that this is obviously aimed at the younger market, its appearance is all the more surprising. From the insipid colours to the wholly unimaginative overall design, it really is startlingly dreadful – especially when you look at products from other manufactures (Hannspree being but one example) designed to appeal to the same, younger market (see below).

How children’s TV sets should look.
We can only assume that the designer concerned was either having an especially bad day/life or has been considering a drastic career change due to loss of any sense of imagination (or, for that matter, design passion) but cannot bring him/her self to act proactively – this monstrosity being the result.
Sporting a 20 inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768 and coming with support for TruSound and TruBass, at the time of writing this HDTV is a Japan only product and we can only hope that further international releases prove to be completely unforthcoming.
