Sony CyberShot DSC-T2 Touchscreen 8MP Digital Camera with Smile Detection

The new Sony CyberShot T2 8 megapixel compact digital camera not only looks the business but it’s positively jammed packed with the latest in cutting edge technology – including Sony’s intriguing Smile Shutter that works alongside the camera’s intelligent face detection functionality to automatically capture images when people smile.

With a plethora of digital cameras on the market it takes a great deal to make one particular device stand out from the crowd, however, there’s little doubt that Sony’s new CyberShot T2 serves to raise the bar somewhat as far as compact digital imaging devices are concerned.

Apart from the aforementioned smile detection – whereby the camera, once primed, will lock on to the subjects face and automatically trigger image capture when a smile is detected – other notable highlights include a 2.7” touchscreen display utilising screen icons rather than buttons for camera control (thus de-cluttering the camera body) and a whopping 4 gigabytes of internal memory which, even when shooting at the highest resolution (3264 x 2448 pixels), is enough to store an impressive 1000 images onboard without the need to resort to memory cards.

Even the CyberShot T2’s file system offers a breath of fresh air with images being assessable either in chorological order via a handy calendar style menu or via a series of up to six user-defined sub folders (birthdays, Christmas, pet, and so on) – all of which can be published with ease directly to popular photo sharing sites such as Flickr, Shutterfly and Photobucket via the inbuilt Sony PMD Portable software. Or, if you prefer a more personal audience, the CyberShot T2 will happily connect directly to a HDTV via a HD component cable for you can bore friends and family senseless with your holiday snaps.

All in all the Sony CyberShot T2 is, by anyone’s reckoning, a truly desirable, pocket sized camera – the T2 measures a mere 86.8 x 56.8 x 20.2mm – that is sure to cater for most amateur and semi-pro photographer’s needs with not only great aplomb but unequivocal style – and, paired with the previously featured Sony HDMS-S1D Digital Photo Album, we’re looking at what one can only describe as a seriously desirable digital photography solution.
