Creative MuVo T100 MP3 Stick Squares up to Apple’s Shuffle

Creative MuVo T100 MP3 Stick

Let’s be honest here, the chances of Creative ever seriously impacting on Apple’s share of the MP3 player market is fairly remote as, whilst Creative undoubtedly produce some robust contenders to Apple’s range of devices, they never quite offer the level of design flair (or the associated hype) needed to take on the Big Fruit – but as an alternative to Apple’s Shuffle, the T100 MP3 stick is hard to ignore.

Coming in 2GB or 4GB flavours, the Creative T100 MP3 player is by no means an unattractive device, though quite whether it’s destined to become a style icon in the design stakes is quite another matter – we strongly suspect not.

The T100 offers exactly what you’d expect from a Shuffle alternative. Measuring 7.75 x 2.5 x 0.9 cm it’s small enough to fit in the tightest of pockets, it accepts MP3, WMA and Audible 2/3/4 file formats, it plugs directly into a PCs USB port to make transferring files a breeze and it’ll come in a range of the usual colours (black, blue, white, red, yellow and, of course, pink).

The T100 also offers a purported 10 hours of playback endurance on a single charge and comes with Creative’s bass boost post processing to add that little extra low end juice to your music.

Agreed, there’s nothing here that’s in any way revolutionary or that serves to lift the T100 head and shoulders above the thronging mass of comparable solid state players, but where Creative’s device could make inroads is in terms of price. And, if the T100 is priced competitively – at the time of writing no pricing information is available – we don’t doubt that it may well make its way into a few stockings or under a few trees this Christmas.
