Featuring as one of the nominees in this years People’s Design Awards, the Everything is OK tape by MINE offers a somewhat more reassuring instant cordon to those of crime and incident scenes and, apart from being a burst as fresh air and refreshing optimism in a frequently pessimistic world is something we would love to find on our travels out an about.
Nominated by Christopher Simmons, who describes the Everything is OK tape as a ‘design that interacts with the general populace, and which, at some level, challenges the status quo’ its one of a number of designs (which, incidentally, also happens to include Apple’s iPhone and the Wattson, which we’ve posted about here on TFTS some time ago) that you can vote for via the People’s Design Awards website.
There’s just something in us that’s yarning to cordon off a few vandalised bus stops (for instance) with this, if only to observe people’s subsequent interactions. Or, perhaps, cordon off a square in the center of town with this tape and hire an actor to stand in the middle balling his eyes out.
Of course, it could have somewhat more ironic applications.
