We work a simple system here at TFTS Towers concerning content and that is that if we’re not excited about something then we simply don’t post about it. But sometimes we come across something that really gets us excited – almost to the point where our feelings really ought not to be legal – and this fantastically cool accessory, known as the TVBeeBoo (great name), that turns your television into an animated ambient light or a kind of modern dynamic painting just happens to be one of these very items.
Designed by Phillippe Loppez, the TVBeeBoo in essence consists merely of an optical filter that attaches to your TV screen via suction that works to diffuse the light and hue of the pictures beneath, thus forming a mesmerising, animated light.
It’s a marvellously simple and yet ingenious (low tech) idea and we’re quite frustrated that we didn’t think of it.
Unfortunately (there had to be a paragraph beginning with ‘unfortunately’ somewhere in this post) the TVBeeBoo will only work on screens up to a maximum of 23 inches and its advised that the suction system employed to fix the filter to the screen should not be used with either LCD television screens or LCD computer monitors. That said, the site does confirm that other means of fixing the TVBeeBoo to LCD screens can be made available on inquiry (quite why this is not included with the TVBeeBoo itself at point of purchase seems, however, quite ludicrous and – not being one to mince words – plainly stupid).
Nevertheless, the TVBeeBoo is a great idea that’s sure to introduce a beautifully becalming, if not out rightly hypnotic, ambience to your room and it certainly gets a big thumbs up from us.
(If the manufacturer or the store linked to is reading this, for goodness sake include the LCD screen ‘special fixation system’ in with the product and don’t make your customers have to jump through hoops in order to gain it separately).
The TVBeeBoo is presently out of stock at the time of writing, however further units are expected to be available in October. Price? €45 (approximately £30 / $60). Alternatively, you may want to visit the official TVBeeBoo Website.
