Toshiba Gigabit U Series – A Lesson in Uninspiring Design

Toshiba Gigabit U Series MP3 Player V3

Let’s be honest here, the portable MP3 player market is saturated with models vying for our attention so, if, as a company, you’re going to release a new player on the market and you want it to sell you really out not to hire the same designers who styled this wholly uninspiring Gigabit U Series MP3 player from Toshiba.

The Gigabit U Series, from a functional perspective, is also less that inspiring, offering a mere 2GB of storage, the somewhat obligatory inbuilt FM radio and a digital photo viewer but no video functionality.

If the Gigabit U Series is supposed to send shockwaves through the digital music player market then we suspect Toshiba are going to be very disappointed as, unless consumers are genuinely looking to splash out $99 for an MP3 player that has the charisma of a house brick, this is going to prove extremely easy to pass over. And this is especially the case when you consider comparable MP3 players such as the previously featured iAudio 7, the Rimax D-Lux and the gorgeous iRiver T50 (to name but a few).
