
If you’re serious about your home movies or are looking to make the jump to HD recording then its time to start saving.
Details are scant at the moment, and admittedly, the device featured is only a mock up at this stage, but Hitachi claim that their first Blu-Ray HD camcorder will be available within the year and perhaps as early as this autumn.
Utilising Hitachi’s new 8cm DB/DVD drive, pictured below, the device will feature a 5.3 megapixel CMOS sensor capable of recording at resolutions of 1920 x 1080 and storing up to 7GB of video in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format.

As you would suspect, there’s no word on pricing at the time of writing but, as they say, if you have to ask….
