Electromagnetic Earth V3

Let’s be blunt here, there are several products out there that harness magnets in order to have items float seemingly magically in space but these invariably come with a design that locks in the item from top and bottom and so, we feel at least, the effect is not quite as striking as it could be.

This is where this cool desktop gadget stands apart from the crowd as there is no frame or structure that interferes with the object being displayed – in this case a globe – so the effect is rather more engaging.

The globe itself measures an impressive 11cm in diameter and floats completely free over its chrome plated base unit, which comes with the required power cable to power the magnets within.

Obviously, as magnets are involved, it’s not something you’ll want to keep near any sensitive, electronically stored data (memory cars and such like) but as a desktop gadget we think is great and it’ bound to prove not only of great fascination to everyone who sees it but also potentially a great educational tool for children.

The Electromagnetic Floating Earth retails for €99 (approximately $137 / £66).
