Carson ePix USB x130 LED Microscope Camera

As far as USB microscopes are concerned there’s no doubt that the Carson ePix tramples the competition in the looks department – and, thankfully, it’s beauty is far from merely skin deep.

From the perspective of optical zoom alone, the Carson ePix USB Digital Microscope offers a mere, somewhat uninspiring x5 magnification but, introduce digital magnification and things move to an altogether more interesting x26-x130.

Coming complete with a bright, inbuilt LED to ensure that your subject is adequately lit, the Carson ePix connects to your computer via a trust USB connection with the resulting 640×480 VGA image, which can be captured either as still images or as a video, being displayed on your monitor.

A great educational tool for children and ideal for hobbyists looking to hone in on fine details, the Carson ePix LED USB Microscope Camera is Windows 98SE, 200 and XP compatible (curiously Vista compatibility is not touted) and retails for around $79.99.
