We are always happy to receive tips from readers concerning items which may be of interest to readers of TFTS and we were especially happy to receive this tip concerning this Microsoft Graphite Executive Laptop as it’s exactly the sort of concept we positively lust over.
Admittedly, unlike the previously featured, diamond studded Otazu Ego Diamond Notebook, this Graphite Executive Laptop is not commercially available at the time of writing, but its an extremely beautiful laptop concept that’s well worth a heads up on TFTS.
Designed by James Owen, and featured on the IdeaWicket website – which also brought us gems such as this Flexi PDA Concept and these cool Shade Blade sunglasses – the designer offers us this following, tantalising insight into his executive laptop concept:

“At the heart of the machine are two thin layers of metal. These layers incorporate all of the electromechanical elements needed to drive the computational and software functionality. This substructure element is also secured to the outer metal clamshell rings. These rings help capture the smoked plastic enclosures that seal the unit completely. Since the laptop sends and receives all information wirelessly, it can be seamless with no cracks, crevices, or plugs to allow moisture or debris inside. The keyboard is touch sensitive with backlighting and the display presents a totally opaque surface when shut down.”
It will be interesting to see if this concept will be further developed from a commercial perspective. We’ll be watching this one closely.
Our thanks to Emma G. for bringing this to our attention.

I need wireless data collection software for my blackberry and Motorola. It needs to support drop down menus, gps, check boxes, maybe capture photos, and bar coding. If anyone ever heard of something like that can you please help me out. Thanks!!!
I have been working in marketing industry for about 5 years and we found a solution that does this. We use it for wireless bar code reading and GPS tracking. The best part is we can customize the forms on-the-fly which saves us a lot of time over a customized solution. The company that makes the product is Westlake out of LA I think. There website is http://www.westlakesoftware.com. Their product is call AirMobility.net. They made a custom Extranet for us for our company to use but their main product site is http://www.airmobility.net. We found this service set up to make it pretty easy for us to migrate the information to our back office system. We use the technology and route it to 40 different servers nationally; has worked flawlessly for about three years. I am note sure if this will match your exact needs but it is what we have been using and it has been working pretty well for us.
