Uber Cool Multi Screwdriver Gadget with LED

We’ve previously featured some extremely cool tool gadgets here at TFTS, from snap apart tool sets to chocolate tool sets but even in light of seriously stiff competition from the wonderful Ultimate Geeks Multi Tool Hammer this Multi Screwdriver gadget enters our wholly fictional most geeky tool charts firmly in the number one slot.

Featuring a distinctive design that resembles some sort of transformers inspired octopus this great gadget consists of eight separate flip out screwdrivers – which are magnetised to hold screws conveniently in place – in a highly portable unit that also comes complete with an inbuilt LED that serves to light the area you’re working on.
Further details concerning this 8 Part Multi Screwdriver Gadget can be obtained from the Idea Topic website.

I have one of these. Next (the high street shop) sold these a year or so ago. They’re not as good as they look — too heavy to get any real purchase when screwing. My Swiss army knife with changeable screw heads is much better — beats normal screwdrivers for its torque any day.
I’ve had this tool for 4 years, under the name (no lie) “Mr. 7-Hands”. It’s the exact same tool, only the printing on the not-handy pocket clip is different.
Truth be told, it kind of stinks. It’s good to keep in your computer room, just so you don’t need to keep a flat-head and Phillips around. For anything serious, though, you can’t take it seriously. The arms fold up frequently while using, there’s no lock. Also, the light has a hair-trigger so it’s impossible to assume it’ll stay ‘off’ while it’s in your pocket or toolbox.
Thank you both for taking the time to offer your experiences of this tool – much appreciated.
Once again it seems that looks are not everything (thankfully, or I’d be in serious trouble :-) )
I don’t suppose you have had experiences of the multi tool hammer linked to in the above article – I’d be interested to see whether this fairs a little better.
