Ever so often we see something that we know, in our heart of hearts, is not really worth a post but we go ahead and post it anyway and, thankfully, we had the foresight from the very inception of this site to include a Wacky Gifts Category that, we like to feel, gets us firmly off the hook in this respect (the formation of this category was either an act of subdued genius or a not in the least transparent bid to cover all eventualities – it is not for us to say which).
I’m in a conversational mood today, have you noticed? Incidentally, in light of this, the choice was stark. I could either post about my cat or how it came to pass that I found myself unconsciously tapping my foot to a Mariah Carey track – something I will never quite get over – or posting about a giant mug. All things considered, posting about a large mug is therefore an act of compassion lest I bore you to death with trivialities that have even resulted my cat try to shape its tail into a loose with which to hang himself from the top of the stairs.
Shall we get on with the post?
Measuring in at a colossal 30cm in diameter this is the sort of mug that you hold back in the office – difficult considering its size, but we don’t doubt that your resourcefulness will come to the fore - until it’s someone else’s turn to make the coffee (ideally the woman in cubicle four who never makes a drink for anyone) before whipping it out with a thinly veiled sneer on your face and asking for a milky coffee with 24 sugars whilst knowing that the milk’s about to run out and the cup probably weighs more than she does.
Retailing at ¥1500 (roughly $6.29 – that can’t be right) excluding the cost of re-mortgaging your house in order to pay for the shipping, the Uber Mug can be obtained from this Japanese online outlet.

Will come in handy when you need to do an ‘all nighter’. Can’t believe the $ price is right though.
Hi BW,
No the price cannot be right and yet I’ve checked once again and it clearly says 1500 Yen. Perhaps an error their side or perhaps its just genuinely dirt cheap.
This mug is amazing.
Now I wonder where I can get teabags the size of a pocketbook..
