Hangboarding – Hang Gliding on Snow

Imagine being suspended just inches from the snow, seemingly hung in mid air, as you plummet down the side of a mountain - the sensation of speed must be truly mind blowing.

It’s such a blindingly simple idea that I’m sure that I’m not the only one kicking myself wondering why on earth I didn’t come up with it. And this is especially annoying as I don’t doubt that it’s going to be enormously successful.

This clever gadget, known as the Hangboard, basically consists of a mount that can be attached to any standard snowboard from which the user is suspended by cables, very much in the same way as a Hang Glider, and, as the video below shows, it certainly looks like great fun.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing, the Hangboard is yet to be made available as the manufacturers are presently touring to show the device off to potential buyers, so no word on pricing as of yet. However, according to the official product website, the Hangboard will become available in the 2007-08 season so interested parties should register an interest now so as to avoid disappointment (as we expect interest to be intense).
