On the whole we do like to try to find things that you have probably not come across before rather that just constantly regurgitating the same content as other sites, and so - after hours of trawling the net - we consider this bizarre gadget to be quite a find.
I’m not quite sure what to make of this particular kitchen gadget as, in essence, it appears to serve merely as a rubber covering for food bowls and to stop boiling pans from spilling over your cooker which, in itself, is wholly unremarkable. But what sets this particular kitchen gadget apart is the rather distinct and somewhat bizarre design.

Looking as though a pig is trying to burst through the rubber, the pig’s nose has been designed to be used as a kind of handle with which the rubber seal can be lifted and placed over hot foodstuffs without causing scolding.
One thing is for certain, I’ve never seen anything quite like it – it’s almost haunting.

Hey, where can you buy one of these???
i love the lids…
just one thing:
i think you mean “food bowls” not “food bowels”…that’s kinda icky.
Hi Marissa, thanks for taking the time to point that mistake (and what a mistake
) out to us. Now corrected.
We run everything through a spell check which, of course, missed this, as had I.
Chris - I’ve got the link to the shop somewhere. That said, just cleaned up my computer desktop as was packed full with graphic files and notes by sweeping it all into another holding folder (short, sweet and extremely lazy), so I’ll have to root through it.
This doo-dad is exceptional. Can you pelase advise us on where we can buy them? I need this in my life!
I have seen it in Tokyo for a least a year. Actually it is used to cover pot while boiling vegetable to keep the temperature and pressure stable while steam can also flow out. Just like wood plate which chinese use to cover their cooking pot.
And pig nose is actually for chopsticks, so you don’t have to touch it while it is hot.
As promised, here is the link the the retailer:
