The 04:02 Couples Half Watch Concept

I have never been particularly into things that fall into the ‘his and hers’ category. Perhaps it’s just me, or perhaps it’s because in so many ways my partner and I are so very different so, personally, this concept is not something that would appeal to me, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t respect where it’s coming from.

The 04:02 Couples Half Watch Concept appears to be a fairly standard digital watch, albeit with a distinctly eye-catching style, but this watch is quite different to any watch we’ve previously featured – concept or otherwise – as it’s literally designed to be torn in two.

According to the designer, Pierre Haulot, the 04:02 is ‘the first watch for two. You can share it by tearing it to make 2 functional half watches. With this irreversible act, proof of sincerity, you not only give a watch to your partner (or your nearest and dearest) but you give a part of your intimacy: your own time. As a symbol, you will share exactly the same time and show your special relationship to everybody.’
