While I would not dream of bashing Apple’s iPOD or disputing the enormous and far-reaching impact the entire range of iPODs have had not only on the digital player market but on product design in general they just don’t, for some reason, do anything for me. For me the iPOD is like a supremely successful business person who has undoubted charm but who is somehow eminently forgettable.
This is not, however, something that could be said of Zenum’s up and coming Organum MP3/MP4 Player which, in my mind, oozes pure sex appeal to such an extent that it makes members of the iPOD family look wholly unspectacular. Put it this way, invite an iPOD to a party and it’ll turn up in a top spec BMW and probably end up helping your kids with their homework. Invite the Organum round and it’ll likely turn up in a TVR, stay for ten minutes and then run off with your wife.
Supporting MP3, WMA, ASF and WAV file formats the Organum will come in a sleek, glossy finish and 20 GB of internal hard drive storage space to hold your favourite music and pictures – which are displayed via its 1.8 inch 128*160 colour matrix display.
Details are presently scant, and there is no word on pricing though the Organum is stated as having a release planned for the end of this year. The question is, just where are the controls - could it be touchscreen operated? We await further details and a full product specification with great interest.
