Notwithstanding the rather silly name, the Mp3, developed by the very same company that brought us the iconic and still hopelessly cool Vespa, has been developed as a practical alternative to inner city transport just when congestion charges and extremely limited/expensive parking is becoming increasing prohibitive for car owners.
Already a major sales success in Europe – to the point at which the UK launch was postponed due to the fact that production at Piaggio’s Pontedera factory could not keep pace with consumer demand – the MP3 offers the practicality of a standard scooter with the added stability and braking performance facilitated by the addition of a secondary front wheel and a revolutionary electro-hydraulic front suspension system.

The result is that not only does the MP3 feel far safer to ride, in even the most adverse of weather conditions, but that the scooter can remain upright even when stationary with a mere press of a switch.

The MP3 is powered by either a 125cc or 250cc engine, retailing at £3999 and £4299 respectively and, quite apart from receiving rave reviews, its proving to be quite a head turner.

MP3 stands for Moto Piaggio 3 – I think it’s kinda slick
Looking at the bare frame and front geometry, they should take a 250cc MP3 and make a new model. Lower & widen the seat, change complete body to a fully enclosed tandem “cabin scooter” with doors, heat, and a reverse gear. Then you would have a small micro-car with tilting performance like the Carver but hopefully at more of a bargain price. If I had the investment monies, I might try it myself! God knows, in our current economic environment, it would sell like hot cakes!
