LED Tire Pressure Alert Value Caps Developed by VECSAFE, these LED valve caps, quite apart from being supremely geeky, could actually help you save money and overt potential accidents by lighting up whenever they detect a drop in tyre pressure.

Calibrated to be compatible with tyre pressure between 20 and 120psi these clever LED Valve Caps will not only memorise the tire pressure on any tire they are fitted but are also sensitive enough to recognise a drop in tire pressure as little as 9psi. To put this in perspective, according to figures provided on the product’s official web page, when tire pressures drop as little as 2.96psi this equates to a loss of 4 cents per gallon of fuel (based on fuel efficiency of 20mpg and fuel costs of £2.00 per gallon – or, if you’re in the UK, that’s roughly the cost of this month’s mortgage repayment).

My first impression of the VECSAFE Valve Caps obtained through vehiclelight.com was that they were a bit large, and I was expecting a more refined assembly. The morning after installation, one of my tires was completely flat. With that, I did not want to take the chance of the others possibly failing. I contacted customer service for was told that they would not issue a refund for used products. Additionally, I was informed that I could have inappropriately installed the product or that the valve stem on the tire was slightly damaged. These installation tips were not included in the instruction sheet.
While it’s a great idea in theory, realty has shown an unfriendly return policy and created quality concerns.
