Dustmate Vacuuming ShoesFor those of us who spend ages walking around the house thinking about doing some housework, but never actually getting round to it, these curious shoes which, according to the UK Mirror Newspaper, have been developed by the electricals company Electrolux, could be the answer.

Called Dustmates – or Shoovers – these novel shoes are made from green nylon, flexible rubber soles and come with an elastic sock that fits around the user’s feet. The Dustmates don’t actually contain any moving parts - so you won’t end up having to rescue your big toe from a dust bag - but rely on a specially developed sole that works to trap dust on contact as the wearer walks around.

Whether these will actually ever become a commercial product is open to question, however there can be no doubt that for people who like nothing better than to saunter around the house with the intention of vacuuming, but never actually get round to translating intention into deed, these could prove very useful (though it might just be easier to get a robot vacuum cleaner).
