I know what you’re thinking. Win a free trip into space? A catchy title but it can’t possibly be true. Well if this is the case, you’d be wrong as this is a real competition and the prize is a sub-orbital flight 62 miles (100km) above the earth courtesy of Space Adventures and Audi.
The competition is open until 30 April 2007 and I must admit that it beats our previously run Win a Picco Z Competition (though, in fairness, it’s a close one to call isn’t it?).
Unfortunately the competition is not one of ours – oh how I wish it was – but is being run by New Scientist Magazine via their website. The highlights concerning the prize are listed below (though it all sounds like one immense highlight to me).
Programme highlights
- Fly into space, 62 miles (100 kilometres) above Earth
- View the Earth from space
- Experience weightlessness
- Participate in the birth of the space travel industry and inspire future generations of explorers
The Sub-orbital Space Flight gives you:-
- Aeroplane flights for you and one accompanying person of your choice from the UK to the launch location
- Training and preparation programme for your sub-orbital flight
- Overnight accommodation, all meals, and transfers between the launch and training facility
- Original Space Adventures sub-orbital spaceflight ticket
- Personalised sub-orbital flight suit
- Gold embossed astronaut lapel pin and Space Adventures medallion and astronaut wings
- Personalised travel bag
- Exclusive photographs and video of you and your sub-orbital spaceflight crew
Is this the Ultimate Geek trip of a lifetime. We think so.
The question? What do you think is the world’s greatest patented invention, and why (in less than 250 words).
You can read further details, including the competition’s Terms and Conditions, by heading over to the page in question now via this link.
