Switchback PCIf you think your PC is a tough guy think again. In comparison to the Switchback UMPC (Ultra Mobile Personal Computer) it’s a wimp that wears fresh flowers in its hair.

Or, to put it another way, if you were to arrange a boxing match between your PC and the Switchback your PC would probably shout that it wants its mummy and promptly faint (and that’s before the Switchback has even got into the ring). Yes, the Switchback is that hard.

In fact, it’s so hard that it doesn’t just meet, but actually exceeds the US Army’s specifications concerning resistance to shock, heat and vibration.

The secret of the Switchback’s toughness is a housing constructed from magnesium in which its shock mounted circuits sit on rubber isolators. And it doesn’t skimp on specification either, boasting up to 1GB of RAM, up to 60GB HDD, a 5.6 inch touchscreen LCD, condensed QWERTY membrane keyboard and USB/Bluetooth connectivity.

It is reassuring, however, to note that, just like all hard men, its processor appears to be not especially powerful being a mere 1GB rated Celeron M so, whilst we have established that this ultra portable PC could undoubtedly beat the living daylights out of your regular desktop, it’s nice to know that it probably still can’t say its alphabet without looking at prompt cards.

You can gain more information concerning the Switchback UMPC via the official product page linked here (just don’t ask it a general knowledge question, as it might get angry).
