Farewell to the Floppy Disk
It is interesting to note that PC World has announced that it is to stop selling floppy disks when current stocks run out – could this herald the end of the floppy disk? With the advent of UDB flash memory the demise of the floppy disk was an inevitability, and I cannot remember when I last even used one, but there can be no doubt that the floppy disk will be remembered with a fond sense of nostalgia by those of us who are old enough to remember using them for the first time after having toiled with loading programmes from cassette tape with computers like the Spectrum (complete with ear-piercing soundtrack).
Thankfully, though PC World may have signalled what will transpire to be the death knell of the floppy disk, items such as this fabulously retro floppy disk notebook will continue to serve as a reminder of yesteryear.
You can view details concerning the floppy disk notebook as pictured above, which retails at $10.00, by linking here or, if you would like to know more about the history of the floppy disk you can link to the relevant page on Wikipedia here.
