Thermal printers, such as used in this SmartShopper device, bring back extremely fond memories of my first ever printer for the Sinclair Spectrum, but I’m digressing – and that’s before I’ve even started the post (which is quite an achievement I suspect).
Moving swiftly along, if you’ve ever scrawled out a shopping list on a tiny piece of paper or the back of a cigarette packet, only to find that you can’t read a word of it once inside the shop, or if you happen to be a doctor – a prerequisite of which appears to be the inability to write anything that’s faintly legible – then this clever device could prove to be of great interest as it does away with the need to write at all (which reminds me, I must add “pen” to my shopping list).
As you come up with items you require you simply tell the SmartShopper what they are and, when it comes to setting out for the weekly shop, it will recall every item you’ve added and print your shopping list neatly via the aforementioned inbuilt thermal printer.
The device comes with the ability to recognise a wealth of items by voice and, if you find an item it can’t recognise you can program it accordingly via a keypad so that in the future when you say, for example, “fire extinguisher” it will know not only what you’re talking about but that the wife is obviously going to attempt to cook a roast again on the weekend – thus causing the SmartShopper to commit an act of Hara-Kiri.
This marvellous device presently retails at $149.99 and you can gain further details via the official site linked here.
