Wake to a Programmable Environment
Featured in the 2006 Lite-On Corporation Awards, the Awake Alarm Clock not only functions as a night light but also as a rather clever alarm clock that will wake you with whatever music or sound effects you wish as well as an accompanying fragrance.
The blurb featured in the Lite-On Awards literature gives away little in the way of information concerning the technology behind the Awake, though I expect it merely comes down to inserting a fragrance cartridge of some description and downloading the desired music/sound effects to its internal memory – but this is a mere assumption on my part.
One thing the brief text concerning this device does note of interest, however, is that things such as the ambience of a forest can be reproduced through both sound and smell – which sounds intriguing (though I suspect that the simulation of such an environment would actually have quite the reverse effect from that intended on myself).
