In order to celebrate the end of 2006, the year of our launch, we have decided to give a free Picoo Z RC helicopter away to one lucky TFTS reader and, trust me, they’re great fun (we received ours at the same time and it’s rather impressive once you get to grips with controlling it).
Subsequent to our initial posting concerning the Picoo Z, which can be read here, the one up for grabs is already boxed up here at TFTS towers and ready for dispatch, all you have to do to stand a chance of winning this great gadget is to leave a comment at the bottom of this post detailing what you think about Thoughts from the Sidelines, a sort of mini review if you like – it really is as simple as that.
The competition is open until 31 January 2007 at which point a random comment from this post will be chosen, the author of which will receive their very own Picoo Z free with thanks from us at TFTS.
Please note that whilst you do not have to be signed in as a member of the site to post a comment, you will need to ensure that you provide a valid email address so that, should you be chosen as the winner, we can contact you so as to arrange delivery of your free Picoo Z.
We look forward to your feedback and wish you the best of luck!
Conditions: Please note that spam entries will not be considered for the prize - and will be zapped at server level as always - and that multiple entries by the same individual will also be excluded from the final draw. In the event that the random winner proves to be non-contactable, another winner will be chosen at random from the pool of entries. The editor’s decision is final.

Cool toy! Can it really be as good as it sounds?
Well i think thoughts from the sidelines is fantastic simply for offering this kind of thing as a year end wrap!!!
An interesting window on the world of consumer electronics and some of the wierd adaptations of civilization to advanced technologies. This would not be the site you would recommend to those such as your Amazonian, Malaysian or African tribes.
Sounds like great fun, count me in!
Thoughts from the Sidelines is a gadget and technology blog. This site is updated frequently, usually with an interesting item found only on the fringe of technology. TFTS is hopelessly obssessed with blinking lights and things that go bleep. Add to that list: flying cars, lifelike robots.. and handbags made from human skin.
Naturally, this site will appeal to everyone!
It might be cheaper for you to fly it to me in Scotland rather than posting it.
hummm.. i think my chances of winning this “random” contest just crashed and burned.
postive:- Blog looks good tho, and this is probaby the best PR idea ive seen.
negative:- the URL is a bit random.. your SEO must be taking a hit.
Love this thing! One of the best gadgets to come out in along time.
Was looking for the dolphin submersible story that I read elsewhere on the net and stumbled across your site. Spent an hour just looking at the different gadgets that I don’t want my kids to even think about asking for.
Thanks!
Great site with loads of intresting content, has kept me busy for hours!…..just wish I was a millionaire so i could buy it all
Count me in for the comp. Cheers, Mike.
Thank you to all the above for entering! There’s still time for more entries, but all your names are already in the hat, so to speak.
My dream of flying led me to your site. I was thrilled to find such cool toys. I can only hope someday these toys will be big enough (and cheap enough) for us to climb in and fly away… maybe I need to think about a shrinking machines instead….
Hi.
Short comment first: I’ve been trying to get my hands on one of those picos last 2 months already. But these are sold completely here in CZ.
Concerning your pages.. I got there from google search. I read and read all the articles and some comments too since that moment. My work stands. GJ:)

Thoughts from the Sideline is a great place to learn about the coolest new gadgets! I am so happy I found this site, now I can spend then next few hours reading through the archives to find out about all the cool gadgets I’ve never heard of before.
Great blog. Most technology blogs post the same old stuff. This site is discriminating and different.
Thank you for your kind comments. TFTS certainly remains on the fringes as far as technology blogs are concerned but we battle onwards and not so mush upwards but seemingly somewhat sideways :-). Your comments are certainly most appreciated and I can’t wait to send this PicooZ off to one of you as I’m having great fun with mine (primarily by scaring the wits out of my wife/the cat with low passes and mock attack runs).
I’ve spent, or wasted, so much time looking through most of the site. Great content. Keep it up, Vin!
Wow, cool toy!
Those things look pretty cool. A friend of mine got a really small rc helicopter that sort of looks like a cricket and lands on its own recharging pad. It was really funny watching the slightest poof of air send it spiraling off course.
Really enjoy this feature!
Really cool toy! I was checking out all the neat toys from all the links on this website. Fabulous site! I bought a the cheap rip off version online and I can barely get it to fly in any direction. This one looks promising!
Cool copter… I hope I win it…
Great site! I found you through StumbleUpon and will continue to check back!
Only you guys would do something this awesome!
And how cool would it be to win that Picoo Z, that would really make up for no one ever getting me a birthday present on christmas.
You guys Rock!
Funny copter, i want the same !!!
Thanks again for your kind comments – much appreciated.
I have noticed that a few people are merely stating that they want this Picoo Z which is not exactly a mini-review of the site as detailed in the post above as being the entire point of this exercise. Please note that simply stating that you want this is not going to get your name entered into the hat, so to speak, as that would be wholly unfair on those that have actually taken time to write something about the site.
Please can future entrants bear this in mind to avoid disappointment.
Realy want one of those as my mate has one and it’s so easy to fly. thanks forthe chance to win one.
I always appreciate a new gadget site and this seems to be one that I can look forward to checking daily
great site and love the picooz it is such a fun copter, hoping to win one for my daughter so she will leave mine alone lol
UPDATE - Time’s fast running out to enter our competition but UK based readers may be interested to know that we have just made the great mini RC helicopter available via our UK online store - so if you don’t win and you can’t live without one of these great gadgets fear not.
You can access our UK Online Shop via the main menu at the top of the site or via the page navigation menu in the sidebar.
Never won a thing in my life of 40 years! Have been looking for one of these at deals, for a while. Other priorities keep me from getting one of these at retail. Now this is a great deal…if only…..
Awesome website — innovative ideas that really get the brain stimulated! My husband & I have a niche business that manufactures rearview mirrors for military applications — thus we love everything to do with helicopters. Thanks for giving me a great lunch hour to explore your site –
great heliiiii, i’ve flown so many of them, but i loved this one,
hope its as good as i looks like.
i’ll love 2 fly one of these
Great gadget. I am trying to convince my lady wife to either buy me one or let me buy one. But as we are both now in the twighlight zone (Pensioners) she is taking some convincing Ah well ‘perchance to dream’
Hi Jim,
They are great fun - and there’s nothing quite like the feeling when you manage to land it successfully on your wife’s head as she’s engrossed in the X-Factor! lol.
They’re tons of fun, but the lithium batteries in mine keep dying
