Video – Productive Nanosystems Animation
And now for something completely different.
Whilst browsing the net looking for possible stimuli for articles for Thoughts from the Sidelines I came across this rather mind-blowing animation concerning Productive Nanosystems that rendered me absolutely speachless (which, in itself, is no mean feat).
The animation shows how a desktop appliance using future advances in molecular technology could be used to create virtually any product – in this case an atomically precise laptop computer – using billions of tiny nano-machines with the resulting product appearing at the top having been constructed at a molecular level by layers of “building blocks” that are custom made by the device as required. And, from an environmental perspective it is interesting to note that the only waste products that would result from such molecular construction would be water and air.
It really is totally mind blowing stuff and you can view the video yourself below.
