This pod-like contraption reminds us of the sort of devices you see in starships that serve to hold the crew in stasis whilst they are flung to the far reaches of space, and for that reason alone, we like it.
However, you won’t be travelling quite that far in this Carbon Chassis Velocipede because, rather than being propelled by a Ion Drive, this sleek beauty relies on the user to provide motion.
Created by Michael Goretzky this sleek personal transportation device is pedal powered so not only are its green credentials top notch but you’ll be benefiting from the exercise whilst reclining in comfort within the custom, made to measure aerodynamic shell. And, as the bodywork is crafted from carbon fibre - the same material used in aircraft and F1 racing cars –not only is it extremely sturdy but it also weighs in at a mere 60lbs.

Gearing is facilitated by a Shimano derailleur and SRAM Gripshift and the device also features full independent suspension, front shock absorbers and the full array of head, tail and indication lights.
This is pedal power with attitude (but, as far as personal transportation is concerned, I’d much rather save up buzz around the skies at 500mph in the CarterCopter or quite literally splash out out on the Innespace Dolphin).
This custom, made to measure velocipede will set you back $13,999.95 and is obtainable from this site.
UPDATE: Looking for a pedal powered water cruiser? This Lake & Sea Pedal Boat, also available from Hammacher Schelemmer may be of interest.
