rearview mirror speakerphoneMany countries, including the UK, have recently passed legislation outlawing the use of mobile phones without a hands free set and, whilst many variations of hands free sets are available, this rear-view mirror hands-free speakerphone has to be one of the coolest.

Linking to your mobile phone via a Bluetooth connection this is a seriously geeky upgrade for your car’s rear-view mirror featuring internal speakers (capable of 120db output), an inbound LED caller display across the bottom of the mirror when calls are received as well as a detachable earpiece to allow for those deal-clinching private conversations. Using full-duplex noise and echo cancellation technology, this cleaver device will also record voice memos and will provide you with a total of three hours talk time from a single charge of its batteries.

If you want to put your vehicle’s rear-view mirror to more use, rather than just using it to mouth obscenities to the driver behind you, you can purchase this gadget via this site for $139.95.

I absolutely abhor the idea of anyone using mobile phones whilst driving. They are marginally safer than driving hand-held, but ARE NOT SAFE.

I actually got this product withdrawn today within minutes of it being pushed out to me as a special offer from our Staff Benefits company. It opposes all evidence of Road Safety and any responsible driving advice.

See my article over at http://www.davidcameronsdiary.co.uk/2006/12/hands-free-more-dangerous-than-drink.html

Hi David, thanks for taking the time to comment and thank you also for the link to your article which will no doubt prove of great interest to readers of this post. (Incidentally, I agree with your post’s sentiments completely).

Thanks for your feedback Andrew because it has been bit lonely the last couple of weeks having set up my new blog over at http://http:www.davidcameronsdiary.co.uk ; but it is somewhat reassuring that some people as you can come to the blog similarly like minded and keep my sanity in check.

I absolutely LOVE technology and think that this is a cool product….just better waiting until you can pull into a service station or whatever before you use it.

Really like your site too…..already subscribed to the feed.
