Perhaps it’s just me, but I appear to be going through an extended stage of liking pretty much anything as long as it has a blue light on it. Moreover, if there are a number of alternative products vying for my attention you can be 110% certain that if one of then has some sort of blue light or LED then that’s the one I’m going to opt for.
I would hope that this explains why I have taken a particular liking for this item as I personally can see little other reason for me to be purchasing it. But then some things don’t need a reason to be cool – they just somehow are.
The Glowring is a primary case in point. Featuring a 4.5cm pressurized laser sealed toughened glass tube which contains a “Gaseous Tritium Light Source” this small key ring will emit light bright enough to be seen from 20 feet away for every minute of the day and every day of the year for an astounding 10 years without the need for any batteries.

Its primary function is, according to the site, to assist in the location of your keys but, frankly, whistling keychains are probably a better solution and anyway, it’s a blue neon light, and that alone seems enough for me to have already parted with the cash to own one.
Well actually, it wasn’t just that as the warning offered on the product’s webpage most certainly prompted my decision, and this concerns me, as the warning is thus:
Please note: Unfortunately we cannot sell Glowrings to customers outside of the UK. This is because laws governing the use of radioactive materials differ dramatically from country to country.
So it would appear that what clinched it is that this glowring is not only a blue light, but that it also apparently contains radioactive materials.

A keyring that glows blue, doesn’t need batteries and is radioactive? That’s a must have in my book.
The Glowring is available with a blue or green emitting light and costs £9.95 from here.

This looks cool. But keeping radioactive material in your pocket, right next to your naughty bits, sounds kind of unsafe.
I think you have a point there! lol Perhaps “bits” might also start glowing in the dark. (shudder).
I notice my sidebar has decided to slip down the page , which is nice. And I’ve only just noticed at 23:11 – ie., bedtime. Grrr.
