MoPod HeaderIt is about this time every year that the next big thing in trends tends to rear its invariably pointless head, what with the Christmas market gearing up for the yearly sales bonanza. Already, it would seem that this years front-runner into “The Present All Children Will Be Crying Out For” category is the MoPod.

The MoPod is a small device that you can clip on a belt or keychain featuring an animal of some description encompassed in a clear plastic dome which will light up and begin to generally throw some kind of epileptic fit every time the owners mobile receives a call.

Referred to as an Alerter trade is already proving brisk for this device which has already proved to be an enormous success in Japan, so, if you have children, take heed and expect a repeated series of tantrums if one doesn’t appear in their Christmas stocking this year.

And, if you are considering purchasing one of these infuriating devices you would be wise to secure an order now as, according to online retailers, the stampede has already begun.

Hi Caroline - have you tried sites like I want One of Those or any other gadget type site? I am unsure of what country you’re in, but if you can let me know I’ll happy take a look for you (you can mail me privately via the contact page).

You can get them on Firebox.com, they have a US site and a UK site.

UPDATE: If you are a UK based reader and you’re looking to get one of these you may be interested to know that we now have a range of MoPods available in the UK Online Store - which can be accessed either via the top menu of via the link in the sidebar.
