New Yahoo Mail Beta Now Live

The much hyped new Yahoo Mail Beta is now available for public use. Seen very much as an attempt by Yahoo to play catch-up on Google’s GMail service the new Yahoo beta boasts a set of new features that bring their mail service rather more up to date with recent developments in email account services, though I still doubt that it will be considered a threat by Google.

The feature set being touted is:

• A new reading pane – read messages without leaving your inbox
• Tabbed messages – open multiple messages at once
• Full drag & drop organisational structure
• Enhanced searching
• 1GB of storage
• Enhanced anti-spam and anti-virus features
• Auto check for new messages
• New keyboard shortcuts
• Integrated RSS feeds
• Improved roaming access features
