If you are lucky enough to have a dual-core based processor in your computer then you will no doubt be somewhat frustrated to discover that Intel have, according to news reports, brought forward their release date for their quad-core Kentsfield processor.
Initially not due until early quarter 2007, the quad-core chip is now pencilled in for a release around late December. Prices have not yet been announced but Thoughts from the Sidelines will be following this story very closely (though it must be said I’m an AMD man myself).

I’d like to point out that once the 4-cores come out, the 2-cores will drop in price to the point they’ll be where the single cores are priced at now.
This is complete speculation on my part, of course.
