gogglesheaderThis site is a fine inaugural entry in my new “Time to Chill” section; a section dedicated to bringing you my favourite sites to promote relaxation and well being (or, to put it in a rather less pompous fashion – how to waste time when you’re feeling a little bored but can’t actually be bothered to do anything section – though that title’s not quite as catchy).

Goggles cites itself as being a flight simulator based on Google Maps and, whilst it’s about as much of a simulator in the true sense of the word as I am funny, it’s a brilliant idea and no doubt will give all young children and lethargic adults whole minutes of sheer, harmless fun.

Using your cursor keys you get to fly your prop plane across various locations in the world, such as London, New York, Washington, Dublin, Zurich, Amsterdam, Madrid and so on. I am, however, taking leave of absence from this site on account of the fact that my wife spotted me waving to a car as I executed an accomplished figure-of-eight manoeuvre over a residential district of Sydney following a quick five minutes flying across Mars (Mars and the Moon are also featured).

So, if you are wondering what to do with yourself, or you just want to chill before real life snarls at you once again, you can take to the air in the Goggles prop plane here.

I agree. With the stresses and strains of modern life I have a thing (actually, more like a bee in my bonnet to be honest) about holding on to a tiny fraction of my otherwise vacant mind that is trying desperately not to grow up. By that I mean, of course, it is nice sometimes just to forget everything for an hour or so and feel wholly unburdened. Invariably this means forgetting my age and just being a child – and thankfully, to date, I can still sit before the world now and again with a wide-eyed innocence whilst I vacuum seal Real Life ™ away for a while.

Thank you for your kind comments, it is very much appreciated. I have been to your site and it certainly make very interesting reading. Perhaps a link exchange can be put into place - only if that’s acceptable to yourself of course. Just let me know.

Take care and stay in touch.
