finetune logoHow about an online music service that creates individually tailored playlists based on your music preferences that results in, for want of a better term, a streaming radio station that’s guaranteed to play the music you like? I was sceptical at first but, having tried it, I must say that I’m impressed.

If you have a decent internet connection, and you are a little bored of your mp3 collection, then Finetune could well be the answer. On a personal level, any music service that recognises The Boards of Canada is alright in my book, and Finetune not only recognised them, but it also built and then streamed a custom playlist of their music straight back to me. Very impressive.

You are not limited to defining particular groups, either, as you can also listen to music based on genre – in fact, at present, the service boasts over two million tracks, each split into 350 distinct categories, and the list is growing daily.

Not only can you listen to your custom playlist, you can also make it available for others to listen to or, alternatively, you can sample their selections (with over 130,000 user created playlists already being available).

Finetune works with Explorer, Firefox and Safari browsers and comes highly recommended.

This is definitely cool. Thanks for posting this. I haven’t seen this radio yet.

I have Sirius radio and I listen to pandora.com also. Finetune looks like it offers more freedom than both. The community playlist aspect of it sounds great. Have to play around with this.
