Korean Air Bans Apple and Dell Laptops
According to the latest news reports, Korean Air has now followed Australian National Airline, Qantas, and has banned passengers from boarding with Dell laptops, Apple PowerBooks or iBooks amid concerns over their batteries. The US Federal Aviation Administration is also known to be considering offering safety advice concerning this matter to airlines very shortly.
The concern centres on the Sony Li-ion batteries that power these products since it has been discovered that the batteries in question are prone to spontaneously combust without warning due to a design fault.
Dell has already instigated a massive recall of products featuring these power cells, though only subsequent to a video being placed into the public domain that showed one of these laptops suddenly combusting.
