policehorses.jpgAre you in advertising? Do you need to get your product seen? Do you need to raise your company’s profile?

How about taking out an advertisement on a police horse?

Nottinghamshire Police Authority in the UK, one of only 16 police forces in England and Wales to continue to maintain mounted divisions are presently accepting bids from sponsors for placement of advertisements on the saddlecloths of their horses, and their horseboxes, as they are on patrol. The move comes as forces with mounted divisions face escalating costs for the upkeep and daily running of their mounted divisions and it is hoped that such sponsorship will help to offset a proportion of these not inconsiderable costs.

I for one can hardly wait to see exactly who takes up such placements, bearing in mind that advertisers are keen to ensure that their product publicity is targeted squarely at the right audience sector.

Whilst I can see the merits of having your company’s logo emblazoned on a police horse, surely few companies would want their products to be seen in leading news items concerning crowd disturbance?

The mind boggles.

Now that’s an interesting and unique way to advertise!!! Have you heard about the people who offer parts of their bodies like their forehead or back, stomach, whatever to companies in order to advertise for them on eBay? The bidding can go up into the thousands! They have to tattoo the brand name on them.

Yes, I have come across that – I was seriously contemplating hiring a 70 year old Peruvian woman’s left lower ankle as the start of a prolonged advertising campaign….alas, as she was a farmer she was always in Wellington boots so I weighed up the pros and cons and decided I wouldn’t be getting enough exposure for my money.

Joking apart, if this is what needs to be done to keep mounted units it the uk then I am all for it – it would be a travesty if they were lost.

There’s something really wrong with advertising on authority figures, or their transportation at least.

    Sidenote:
I’d be willing to cut “thoughts from the sidelines” into my front lawn, or at least “nexus404.com”.
And I don’t cut my lawn as nearly as often as I should, so the advert would get exposure for a good month or so.
Have your people call my people.

Ah, I have a way around that - what if I send the Thoughts from the Sidelines horse over to your place once a month to cut your grass for you. Sorted. :-)
